DOT announces to expect more Clark flights for Western Visayas
Because of the travel demands in Western Visayas, the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 6 officially announced that they will be welcoming new flights to connect Western Visayas to the northern Philippines [3].
Also, this coming August 9, 2019, Cebu Pacific will start operating its Clark-Bacolod and Clark-Iloilo flights and vice versa. This was announced by DOT regional director Helen Catalbas.
Catalbas also mentioned that these new flight routes will welcome more investors and more options for travelers, and it is also expected to increase the tourist arrivals in the province.
John Orola, Bacolod City Administrator, revealed that the floating restaurant is almost finished and will soon operate in the Sum-ag River, Bacolod City. He added that the Department of Tourism has included Sum-ag River as one of the candidates for the Enhanced River Program because of the upcoming opening of the floating restaurant.
The floating restaurant will have entertainment on board. It can accommodate about 30 persons and will travel from Brgy. Sum-ag all the way to Brgy. Cabug.
Orola revealed that this DOT project is estimated to cost over PhP3.4 million and is expected to become another tourist attraction in the city. Thus, a two-storey Tourism Information Center in the riverbank of Sum-ag was already established by the DOT funded by the City Planning and Development Office [4].
