Keep yourselves safe and dry as light to moderate rains will occur this week. In other parts of Negros, specifically in Cadiz City and Toboso Town, there will be road projects for the benefit of Bacolodnons, especially students and working individuals. Meanwhile, the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. (BREDCO) Port is going to regulate the fare in taxis and tricycles going in and out of the port. Weather Advisory: Prepare for light rain showers with thunderstorms

Light to moderate rains will continue to fall this week in Bacolod City. Heavy clouds will develop thunderstorms mostly in the morning and in the late afternoon. Since the sun has a low chance to show its smile upon the city, it’s better to bring umbrellas, especially when go out in the afternoons. The weather maintains to be calm but not really warm as the temperature this week runs from 30 °C to 32 °C [1].

Traffic News: Three road projects in northern Negros

In Northern Negros, three road projects amounting to PHP231.652 million are approved. Cadiz City is one of the cities to benefit, with two out of the three road projects. The other one goes to Toboso Town.

In Cadiz, one of the projects is a 12.46-kilometer farm-to-market road worth PhP146.539 million. It will benefit 633 households and will provide access to Aluyan Elementary School. A PhP23.446-million 40-linear meter Dalayapan Bridge is the second project in the city.

Meanwhile in Toboso, a PhP61.6-million road project is planned, and it will benefit 448 households. This will also provide access to teachers and pupils of Vergara Elementary School.

These projects are under the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) [2].

BREDCO to regulate seaport taxi and tricycle fares

Because of passenger complaints that taxis and tricycles have been charging excessive fare rates, the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. (BREDCO) Port announced that they will regulate the rates. This will be implemented to those who operate within the Simplicio Palanca Seaport Terminal at the Reclamation Area in Bacolod City [3].

Since this is a transport concern, BREDCO will coordinate with the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to address the problem.

Mambukal Mountain Resort pushes for environmental awareness

Recently, the Mambukal Mountain Resort in Murcia, Negros Occidental held a community environment event to raise awareness and action on environmental protection [4].

Resort manager Ellen Marie Jalandoni said that the aim of the campaign is to encourage proper waste disposal, ecological balance and sustainable consumption that affect the community.

Part of Mambukal Mountain Resort’s program is to provide ecological protection and balance to prevent the destruction and disappearance of wonderful creatures. Jalandoni added that the community should work together to further create a holistic approach in the environment.

For the event, the resort partnered with the Philippine Army, Barangay Minoyan, and the Municipality of Murcia, as well as non-government organizations Philippine BioDiversity and Energy Development Corporation.
