LTO’s campaign aims to remind everyone to keep safe while driving on the road.
Summer just hit its finale. The rainy season is coming, so prepare to keep yourself safe and dry. The Land Transportation Office (LTO) embarked on a timely campaign to remind motorists aware to observe road courtesy. Meanwhile, travelers from the south will be happy to know that Kabankalan Airport will be completed and will operate by 2020. For the details on these travel news in Bacolod City, read on.
Weather Advisory: A combination of clouds and sun
With this week’s gloomy weather, expect scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to hover in Bacolod City. Though the rain won’t fall all throughout the week, it is still strongly recommended to bring your rain gears when heading outdoors, especially in the afternoon. It is still going to be humid in the city with the given temperature that ranges from 33°C to 35°C degrees [1].
Traffic News: LTO promotes road safety campaign
Recently, LTO had collaborated with other government agencies together with transport groups to promote a safety campaign through a caravan. The participating groups are the Department of Education, Department of Health, some transport groups such as jeepneys, motorcycle riders, taxis, buses, and TNVS accredited vehicles.
LTO-Western Visayas Director Rolando Ramos said that the campaign aims to make drivers more disciplined while on the road and for them to practice safety measures in order to achieve strict observance of road courtesy.
Based on records, 28 road accidents occur every day [2].
Travel Update: Airport in Kabankalan City is expected to be completed by 2020
Residents in the southern part of Negros Province are now looking forward to the completion of Kabankalan Airport. This will be convenient for those who travel from the south; compared to the travel time to Silay Airport, travel time to Kabankalan is much shorter.
Congressman-elect Genaro Alvarez said that the completion of the Kabankalan City Airport is set to 2020 [3]. The airport is expected to be operational before June 2020.
The Kabankalan City Government and the Provincial Government, through incoming Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, will raise funds of about PhP100 to PhP150 million to finish the project.
As of this time, Cong. Alvarez said that Kabankalan Airport still lacks the runway, apron, and terminal.
