Another tourist attraction in northern Negros to rise
The Dalayapan Ecopark is set to rise in Barangay Caduha-an, Cadiz City in northern Negros Occidental. This 2-hectarre ecopark is a project development of the Dalayapan Agrarian Reform Cooperative (DARCO) [4].
Expected to start operating next year, the ecopark will feature amenities such as campgrounds, spring pool, and other recreational facilities. Recently, the cooperative has already opened Café Darco inside the ecopark area. It operates from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily.
PVO to keep Negros free from a game fowl disease
Because of the spread of several game fowl disease in the country, the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) of Negros Occidental boosted its regulatory services. The office installed awareness signage in Silay Airport and sea ports at Barangay Banago in Bacolod City—points of entries in the province [3].
Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena said that regulatory services should be intensified in the airports and seaports. Through its Animal Health and Meat Inspection Services, PVO ensures the implementation of biosecurity measures.
Since Negros Occidental is known for producing quality game fowls, Decena said that many enthusiasts in the country prefer buying their fighting cocks from the province. These are usually shipped out.
Decena added that animal disease surveillance is also being conducted regularly in order to prevent outbreaks of devastating diseases.
