Sea transport sector to maintain fare rates
Because of the continuous fare increase in the country, more travel sectors are considering to implement a fare increase. Despite this, the sea transport sector does not plan on increasing its fares yet. To keep sea travel easy and breezy, the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry chief executive officer and Weesam Express operator stated that they will not implement a fare increase yet since summer is a high-volume travel month.
There are three fast craft operators in Bacolod City: Weesam Express, SuperCat, and OceanJet. Ticket fares range from P200 to P350, depending on the type of accommodation a passenger might prefer [3].
DOT accredited two new agri-tourism destinations
The province of Negros Occidental has become one of the traveler’s favorites in terms of agri-tourism destinations. Just recently, two more spots were accredited by the Department of Tourism (DOT): PeacePond Eco Tourism Events and Learning Center in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental, a five-hectare organic farm and fish production area in Barangay Enclaro; and Melba’s Farm in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, a 10-hectare property located in Sitio Masanglad, Barangay Cabatangan. Provincial Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Cristine Mansinares said that these two accredited destinations met the DOT standards [4].
