A bright and sunny weather will bring warmth and a pleasant vibe to the City of Smiles this week. In Bacolod traffic news, a city policy prohibiting all public and private vehicles from parking along Lacson Street, the busiest street in the city, will be strictly implemented. Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will work on the rehab of the traffic lights of the main road going to Bacolod-Silay Airport. Lastly, a more fun and exciting Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival in Bacolod City will push through this May despite the busy preparations for the upcoming election.
Weather Advisory: Sunny weather and some gray skies
This week, you will get enough Vitamin D thanks to the generally sunny weather. Bacolod City will experience clear skies mainly from Monday until Thursday. The pleasant weather will be suitable for those who would love to stroll around the city’s downtown area and to those who plan to do outdoor activities. However, the gray clouds will hover on Friday until Saturday afternoon and bring a low chance of light showers in some areas of the city. The expected temperature for this week will range from 30°C to 33°C [1].
Traffic News: Strictly “No Parking” policy for Lacson Street
The Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) will strictly implement the “no parking” policy along Lacson Street, Bacolod City. It shall be strictly enforced and followed by vehicle owners from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM [2].
Hon. Distrito stressed that traffic congestion along Lacson Street builds up since it is the busiest street in the city. He added that imposing traffic discipline continuously is vital in order to prevent traffic congestion especially during rush hours.
Prioritizing the repair of traffic lights at the Bacolod-Silay Airport urged
The rehabilitation of the traffic lights along the circumferential road going to Bacolod-Silay Airport has been approved [3]. The repair will be beneficial to the riding public going to and from the airport especially during night time.
Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) stressed that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) shall prioritize the repair and rehabilitation of the said traffic lights. The DPWH will do the monitoring and inspection of the rehabilitation project.
Travel Update: Chicken Inasal Festival will push this May
Despite the busy preparations for the upcoming May 2019 election, the second Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival in Bacolod City will still push through.
“Since the festival is already an ordinance, it should be held every first week of May,” said Bacolod Councilor Em Ang, Chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Tourism [4].
She added that last year, the festival featured a 300-meter long chicken barbeque grill and it was successfully done despite having a short preparation period. But this year, she stressed that they will make some improvements and changes to make the event even more remarkable.
