The processing of business permits was made easy with the help of the Business One-Stop-Shop (BOSS) at the New Government Center, Bacolod City.

Meanwhile, the Bacolod City District Engineer explained the details of the P45M budget for 60-kilometer bike lanes project after receiving comments on social media. In other news, following a recent incident in Mambukal Mountain Resort, Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Lacson urged the provincial government to ensure public safety. Lastly, business owners in the city now have the chance to process their business permits in Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) until February 28, 2019.

Weather Advisory: Heavy downpours to prevail this week

With partly to mostly cloudy skies, rain is expected on most of the days this week. Make sure to bring a raincoat when heading out on Sunday, January 20, as a cooler temperature of 24 °C will develop during the night. Meanwhile, from Monday, January 21, up until the weekend, occasional to heavy showers will pour in [1].

Traffic News: Bike lanes project utilized P45 million

After dealing with comments from netizens on the city’s 60-kilometer bike lanes project, Engr. Abraham Villareal, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bacolod City District Engineer, spoke before the public and explained that a budget of P60 million is funded for road improvement programs including the bike lanes [2].

According to Engr. Villareal, PhP45 million was spent on the painted bike lanes implemented in 2017 along the Circumferential Road, North and South Circumferential Roads, Abuanan Road, and Bacolod San Carlos Road. He added that, as part of the budget, road signs were placed in the lanes in both sides of the roads. These road signs include regulatory signs, traffic instruction signs, information signs, mobilization, project billboards, and construction safety net, among others.

He stressed that the public should not compare the Bacolod City’s bike lanes to bike lanes in Iloilo City, since it requires bigger funds to cover the costs of the road right of way or road widening.

Travel Update: Safety first for the Mambukal Mountain Resort’s guests

Recently, the roof had collapsed in the kitchen area of the Convention Center and Hotel building of the Mambukal Mountain Resort. The incident area had already been cleared according to the resort workers.

Due to this safety issue, Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Lacson required the Negros Occidental provincial government to ensure the resort’s structural credibility for public safety.

Though the Mambukal Convention Center and Hotel building construction is almost finished, the contractor has not turned over the project to the resort yet. [3]

Passed Laws and Ordinance: Mayor pushes to extend the Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS)

The ongoing Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS), designed to provide hassle-free business permit registration, was initially scheduled to end on January 20.

However, after the appeal for extension of Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mr. Roberto Montelibano, BOSS was extended until February 28.

To date, all 61 Bacolod City barangays have now participated in BOSS [4].
