Bacolod City will have a peaceful and safe New Year. The City Government of Bacolod met with village officials and discussed Executive Order No. 28 issued by President Rodrigo Duterte, which calls for the regulation and control of the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.
Barangay (village) officials are required to submit a list of areas they have their identified as fireworks display spots for the holiday season. These identified areas will be inspected and are due for approval by the Bacolod City Police Office and Bureau of Fire Protection.
Through Executive Order No. 28, residents are allowed to use firecrackers like baby rocket, bawang, El Diablo, Judas belt, paper caps, pull string firecrackers, sky rocket, and small triangulo at the identified community fireworks display areas while they can use the following pyrotechnics devices within their houses: butterfly, fountain, luces, roman candle, sparklers, whistle devices, among others.
All barangay officials are tasked to distribute flyers to inform their communities to use the identified fireworks display areas to avoid penalties. Violators of Executive Order No. 28 will face a fine of PhP20,000 to PhP30,000 or an imprisonment of one to six years [3].
