On the second week of March, locals and tourists should anticipate heavy traffic on major roads due to the construction of flood control projects. Thunderstorms and rain showers are also in the forecast this week. One can try chico fruits or take a side trip to see a heritage house in Talisay City, which is less than an hour away from Bacolod.
Thunderstorms and rain showers
Cloudy weather with thunderstorms and rain showers are expected in Bacolod this week.
The week will start off with great weather. However, the next few days will have morning rain showers specifically from March 12 to March 15. Thunderstorms are also expected on March 16 to March 17. It is advisable to bring umbrellas or caps to protect yourself from the rain on the said dates. Light to moderate winds from the east to the northeast will prevail, while coastal waters will have light to moderate waves. Minimum temperature will be at 24°C (75.2°F), while maximum temperature will be at 32°C (89.6°F).

Heavy traffic is expected this week at Lacson St., especially near Rolling Hills Memorial Chapel as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) starts drainage reconstruction as part of the flood control project along Lacson National Highway.
According to Congressman Greg Gasataya, DPWH and the Bacolod City Engineering District are working with the contractor to finish the construction as quickly as possible to lessen traffic in the area. [1] The flood control project along Lacson St. in Brgy. Mandalagan is expected to be completed in three weeks’ time.

Fruit in season: chico
Chico is a good source of vitamins A and C.
March is when chico (sapodilla) fruits are abundant in Bacolod City. Chico is a tropical fruit which has a soft and easily digestible pulp. It contains antioxidants like vitamins A and C. Vitamin A is essential for good vision and for maintaining healthy skin and mucous membranes. Chico can be found in local markets in Bacolod City. When buying chico fruits, it is advisable to choose those with smooth, intact skin without cracks and bruises.
Local activity: visiting Balay ni Tana Dicang Museum

Tourists can visit numerous heritage houses in Talisay City. One of them is Balay ni Tana Dicang Museum, the only heritage house-turned-museum in Talisay. Built in 1872, the house was done in Spanish-Filipino architectural style with 18 rooms and a nook which once served as an office for Doña Enrica Alunan or Tana Dicang. The house gives visitors a glimpse into the lavish lifestyle of hacienderos (farm owners) who prospered because of the sugar industry
