“Dessert Triangle” in Bacolod Hits the Sweet Spot

When you are in Negros Occidental, one of the best ways to celebrate being in the Sugar Bowl of the Philippines is to taste the sweet products this region in the Visayas can offer. In Bacolod alone, there are several bread and pastry shops offering fancy-looking and undeniably sweet cakes. But do you know where to hit three birds with one stone?
Here at ShoppersGuide, we uncover the “dessert triangle” in Lacson Street—C’s by L’ Fisher, Calea, and Felicia’s that are just a stone’s throw away from each other. Scroll down to know more about these cake havens in the most happening street in the City of Smiles!
C’s by L’Fisher
If you haven’t heard of Kouign-Amann or Kouign Amman (pronounced as kwin aman) in Bacolod, that is probably because C’s by L’Fisher is one of the few, if not the only one, serving that round and crusty Breton cake. When it comes to uniqueness of food offerings, C’s gets the top spot in this list.

True to its name, main offerings at C’s are coffee shop goodies whose names start with the letter C: coffee, cake, chocolate, and churros. Example dessert choices include mango mousse cake which costs PhP800 for a whole round cake and piña colada cheesecake at PhP107.84 per slice. Also served in this trendy coffee shop of L’Fisher Hotel are burgers, sandwiches, and breakfast meals.
With its crisp white and green interiors, C’s is one of the lesser-known, yet underrated dessert and pastry shops in Lacson Street.

While rival pastry shops Calea and Felicia’s have branched out in different parts of Bacolod and have established stores up north in Talisay, C’s currently has two branches. One is in SM City Bacolod and the other in SM City Mandurriao in Iloilo, which opened this February.

Calea
Calea is a household name in Bacolod, so if it’s your first time to go to Calea in Lacson Street, your taxi or jeepney driver, even your co-passengers, can show you where it is.

Among the favorites is the mudpie cake (PhP100) which is basically a chocolate ice cream cake topped with chocolate and nuts. Two of the other fool-proof choices include mocha sans rival (PhP85 to PhP95) and blueberry cheesecake (PhP85 to PhP95). Feel free to ask the servers more about the cakes, and you may just find one that fits your preference.

The semi-rustic and semi-modern cake shop can seat 50 to 70 customers inside. However, it can get pretty crowded at around 8:00 to 9:00 PM, especially during the 15th and the 30th of the month.

Here’sa pro tip: Do not be surprised when your flight attendant offers a seatbelt for your Calea cake so it won’t be deformed while in transit.
Calea has branches at the Balay Quince Commercial Building, Lacson Street, Robinsons Place Bacolod, and at Ayala Mall’s The District North Pointin Talisay City.

Felicia’s
Felicia’s is one of the places in Bacolod to get your fill of cream puffs and French macarons. Locals and first-timers alike also swear by Felicia’s soft, tasty, and famous pan-grilled ensaymada which costs less than a dollar.
From the inside, Felicia’s will remind you of a modern home—clean, wood-paneled, and well-lit.
On the other hand, their daily staple offering of salted butter sans rival is also popular among patrons and even foreign visitors.

While the main store is in 15th Lacson Street, Felicia’s has since grown with stores in SM City Bacolod and Robinsons Place Bacolod. They also have branches at 6th Lacson Street and The District North Point. If you are in Manila, you can get your fix of Felicia’s ensaymada at Baker’s Dozena t Rockwell Makati.
Felicia’s may be reached at (+6334) 433-6586 or (+6334) 709-1123. Their branch at 15th Lacson Street is open from 9:00 AM to 11:45 PM.
How to Get There
The easiest way you can instruct your local driver to take you to this “dessert triangle” is to tell him to drop you off at L’Fisher Hotel. To the right of the hotel is where C’s is located. You can find Felicia’s on its right and across C’s and Felicia’s is the Balay Quince building where Calea is.
When commuting via jeepney, you can ride jeepneys with routes going to Bata-Libertad or Mandalagan-Libertad, which pass by Lacson Street. Minimum fare for students and senior citizens is at PhP5 while regular jeepney fare is at PhP6.50.
Other than C’s, Calea, and Felicia’s, there are other dessert places like Bob’s Café near Ramos Avenue; Miren Café near Convergys and Art District; and Ann Co Cakes across Quali Tea, Shawarma Habibi, and Avenue Suites.
